What is reported

The Pew Research Center documents strong Christian disaffiliation in many Western countries: between 2010 and 2020, France and the United Kingdom lost their Christian majority, Europe’s Christian population declined and the share of people with no religious affiliation grew. Surveys from 2025-2026 confirm significant losses from people changing religious identity in several wealthy countries.

Main objection (in French for now)

Disaffiliation is a voluntary departure, not coercion: nothing in it corresponds to persecution or to organized opposition to faithfulness.

The text (World English Bible)

For the mystery of lawlessness already works. Only there is one who restrains now, until he is taken out of the way.

2 Thess 2:7

and every spirit who doesn’t confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God; and this is the spirit of the Antichrist, of whom you have heard that it comes. Now it is in the world already.

1 John 4:3
