What is reported

Associated Press reported in August 2026 that Christians in Israel fear rising harassment, particularly in the Old City of Jerusalem: spitting at clergy, vandalism, physical assaults, a Catholic nun violently attacked, clergy now accompanied by Jewish volunteers for their protection. The Religious Freedom Data Center recorded 181 hostile incidents in 2025 against 107 in 2024, with recently about one incident a day in Jerusalem. The acts are attributed mainly to religious nationalist circles, not to the public authorities, who on the contrary are stepping up prosecutions and protection.

Main objection (in French for now)

The scale bears no comparison with the “time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation” of Dan 12:1: this is harassment and assault, not a national catastrophe.

The text (World English Bible)

When he opened the fifth seal, I saw underneath the altar the souls of those who had been killed for the Word of God, and for the testimony of the Lamb which they had. They cried with a loud voice, saying, “How long, Master, the holy and true, until you judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?” A long white robe was given to each of them. They were told that they should rest yet for a while, until their fellow servants and their brothers, who would also be killed even as they were, should complete their course.

Rev 6:9-11

for then there will be great suffering, such as has not been from the beginning of the world until now, no, nor ever will be. Unless those days had been shortened, no flesh would have been saved. But for the sake of the chosen ones, those days will be shortened.

Matt 24:21-22
