What is reported

The FAO–WFP Hunger Hotspots report of 17 June 2026, covering June–November 2026, identifies 13 areas at risk. Sudan, South Sudan, Yemen, Palestine, Nigeria and Somalia are at the highest level of concern. A risk of famine is identified in 14 areas of North Darfur, South Darfur and South Kordofan until September 2026, and is expected to persist in 13 areas until the January 2027 harvest period. In Nigeria, about 34.8 million people are projected to be in high acute food insecurity over June–August 2026, including 1.8 million in the emergency phase and about 15,000 in the catastrophe phase in Borno State. No later FAO–WFP report was published within the current window: the figures remain those of June 2026, now made more precise.

Main objection (in French for now)

These famines are mostly caused by conflicts and blocked humanitarian access: identifiable political causes, not an inexplicable phenomenon.

The text (World English Bible)

When he opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature saying, “Come and see!” And behold, a black horse, and he who sat on it had a balance in his hand. I heard a voice in the middle of the four living creatures saying, “A choenix of wheat for a denarius, and three choenix of barley for a denarius! Don’t damage the oil and the wine!”

Rev 6:5-6

Jesus answered them, “Be careful that no one leads you astray. For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will lead many astray. You will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you aren’t troubled, for all this must happen, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there will be famines, plagues, and earthquakes in various places. But all these things are the beginning of birth pains.
