The announcement. The prophet Zechariah, in the book of Zechariah, announces that God will fight the nations that come against Jerusalem, that his feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, which will split in two, and that he will come with "all his holy ones" to be "King over all the earth".
What happened. The text places all of this on "the day of Yahweh", with no date. Already fulfilled, under way, or still to come? Readings differ: it is up to you to judge.
What is still debated. some see the captured city first of all as the capture of Jerusalem by the Romans, in AD 70. And linking this text to the return of Jesus remains a comparison: the book of Acts names the same hill, without quoting Zechariah.
Main objection (in French for now)
Za 14:2 dit que la ville sera prise et qu’une moitié ira en captivité : certains lecteurs y voient d’abord la prise de Jérusalem par Rome en 70, avant l’horizon final.
The text (World English Bible)

Half of the city will go out into captivity, and the rest of the people will not be cut off from the city. Then the LORD will go out and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle. His feet will stand in that day on the Mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east; and the Mount of Olives will be split in two from east to west, making a very great valley. Half of the mountain will move toward the north, and half of it toward the south. You shall flee by the valley of my mountains, for the valley of the mountains shall reach to…
Zech 14:2-5
The LORD will be King over all the earth. In that day the LORD will be one, and his name one.
