In short

The announcement. John, in the book of Revelation, toward the end of the 1st century, announces that two witnesses of God, clothed in sackcloth, will prophesy for 1260 days, while the holy city will be “trampled underfoot” by the nations for 42 months.

What happened. This has not happened yet. According to the text, their testimony ends just before the seventh trumpet, so this period may cover a good part of the judgments.

What is still debated. the 1260 days of the witnesses and the 42 months of the holy city are very alike, but the text does not say that they begin and end on the same day.

Main objection (in French for now)

Ap 11:2 et Ap 11:3 sont probablement largement parallèles, mais c’est un vínculo fuerte, pas une identité affirmée par le texte.

The text (World English Bible)

I will give power to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy one thousand two hundred sixty days, clothed in sackcloth.”

Rev 11:3
