In short

The announcement. Jesus, in the Gospel of Luke, announces that after the fall of Jerusalem its inhabitants will be led away captive, and that the city will be “trampled down by the Gentiles” until “the times of the Gentiles” are over.

What happened. This has not happened yet in its entirety. The text describes a long period, opened by the destruction of Jerusalem, which lasts until an end it does not specify.

What is still debated. the text gives no length, and any attempt to put a number on it is speculation.

The text (World English Bible)

They will fall by the edge of the sword, and will be led captive into all the nations. Jerusalem will be trampled down by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.

Luke 21:24
