What is reported

Le 9 octobre 2026, un séisme de magnitude 7,6 (puis 7,7 selon une révision de l'USGS) frappe le sud du Panama, à une douzaine de kilomètres de Pitaloza Arriba. Bâtiments endommagés dans les provinces de Veraguas, Herrera et Los Santos, au moins deux blessés, aucun mort signalé au moment des articles ; alerte au tsunami émise pour le Pacifique oriental puis levée.

Main objection (in French for now)

Le nombre annuel de séismes de magnitude ≥ 7 est remarquablement stable (une quinzaine par an en moyenne) : un séisme de cette taille est ordinaire à l'échelle du globe.
