What is reported

The Reformed Adventist Church "True and Free" was banned as "extremist" by a Kyrgyz court on 19 March 2025, a ban upheld by the Supreme Court on 4 August 2025. On 6 June 2026, police searched ten homes in and around Bishkek. On 17 June, five members were placed in pre-trial detention for two months, first prosecuted for distributing extremist material (up to seven years in prison), then for "participation in an extremist organisation". Between 18 August and 28 September 2026, they were sentenced to fines of 10000 to 20000 soms (one to two weeks' average wages). The investigator told Forum 18: "I would keep them in prison if it were up to me"; according to him, they had Adventist books at home, which is prohibited.

Main objection (in French for now)

The official grounds are “extremism”, and the court-ordered expert analysis faults the books for their refusal of military service.

The text (World English Bible)

Jesus answered them, “Be careful that no one leads you astray. For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will lead many astray. You will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you aren’t troubled, for all this must happen, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there will be famines, plagues, and earthquakes in various places. But all these things are the beginning of birth pains.

Matt 24:4-8

It was given to him to make war with the saints and to overcome them. Authority over every tribe, people, language, and nation was given to him.

Rev 13:7

He will speak words against the Most High, and will wear out the saints of the Most High. He will plan to change the times and the law; and they will be given into his hand until a time and times and half a time.

Dan 7:25
