What is reported

On 28 July 2026 at 16:27 (local time), an earthquake of magnitude 7.1 according to the Japan Meteorological Agency (6.8 according to the USGS, depth 8 km) struck Kumamoto Prefecture. Intensity 7, the maximum on the Japanese scale, was recorded in Uki and Hikawa; the USGS issued a red alert. As of 8 August, the prefectural toll stood at 39 dead (36 directly caused by the earthquake, one related death, two under investigation) and 205 injured, 23 of them seriously. The International Charter “Space and Major Disasters” was activated the same day.

Main objection (in French for now)

The same prefecture experienced the April 2016 earthquakes (magnitude 7.0) on the same fault system: this is a known geological recurrence.

The text (World English Bible)

Jesus answered them, “Be careful that no one leads you astray. For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will lead many astray. You will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you aren’t troubled, for all this must happen, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there will be famines, plagues, and earthquakes in various places. But all these things are the beginning of birth pains.

Matt 24:4-8
