What is reported

On July 20, 2026, the Houthis declare a naval blockade against Saudi Arabia and claim missile strikes on the kingdom: the first strikes claimed since the informal truce of March 2022. The attacks continue in September (at least five dead on both sides on September 17, according to Al Jazeera). On September 24, after dozens of missiles and drones were launched at Saudi targets, the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan meet under their mutual defense agreement: an attack on one is an attack on all. The Iranian president says the Houthis are responsible for their own actions. Some of the casualty figures come from media close to the Houthis, and the September 24 fact rests on a single dispatch picked up by the press.

The war in Yemen has lasted since 2014: the breakdown of the truce has identifiable political causes (strikes on an airport, regional war with Iran).
