In the long term, the Euphrates is drying up. According to the Iraqi Ministry of Water Resources, average inflows to Iraq were about 30.4 billion m³ per year in 1933-1971, then 19.7 billion in 1992-2007 and 12.75 billion in 2008-2011. A study published in August 2025 in the *Civil Engineering Journal* attributes a 41% drop in flow to the large Turkish dam project (GAP) and to climate. In May 2025, the same ministry announced reserves at their lowest in 80 years. Summer 2026 marks a rebound: on August 30, the ministry announces inflows of 680 m³/s to Iraq, more than four times the 151 m³/s of the same period in 2025, after the May-June floods in Syria. The rebound eases drinking water and agriculture without ending the crisis; one good year does not reverse the trend.
Main objection (in French for now)
The text links the drying up to the passage of “the kings that come from the sunrise,” during the sixth bowl: a river that falls does not fulfill this verse, and no army is involved.
The text (World English Bible)

The second angel poured out his bowl into the sea, and it became blood as of a dead man. Every living thing in the sea died. The third poured out his bowl into the rivers and springs of water, and they became blood. I heard the angel of the waters saying, “You are righteous, who are and who were, O Holy One, because you have judged these things. For they poured out the blood of saints an…
