What is reported

According to the IPC analysis presented by the FAO and the WFP on October 15, 2026, about 19.2 million people, or 38% of the population, are expected to face acute food insecurity (Phase 3 or above) between November 2026 and April 2027, compared with 17.4 million projected a year earlier for the same period. About 5 million would be in Phase 4 (emergency), twice the projection for April–September 2026. Cases of acute malnutrition are expected to reach about 4 million in 2027 (nearly +10%), a quarter of them severe. The increase comes despite a good harvest: more than 1.2 million people returned from Iran and Pakistan this year, border closures, disruptions to maritime transport (including the Strait of Hormuz) that drive up prices, unemployment, and declining humanitarian funding. No area is classified in famine (Phase 5).

Main objection (in French for now)

The causes are identifiable and regional: forced returns, border closures, aid cuts.

The text (World English Bible)

When he opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature saying, “Come and see!” And behold, a black horse, and he who sat on it had a balance in his hand. I heard a voice in the middle of the four living creatures saying, “A choenix of wheat for a denarius, and three choenix of barley for a denarius! Don’t damage the oil and the wine!”

Rev 6:5-6

Jesus answered them, “Be careful that no one leads you astray. For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will lead many astray. You will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you aren’t troubled, for all this must happen, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there will be famines, plagues, and earthquakes in various places. But all these things are the beginning of birth pains.
