Step still to come (one reading among others)

In short

The announcement. The prophets Isaiah and Ezekiel, in the books that bear their names, announce that God will gather the children of Israel, scattered among the nations, and bring them back to their land.

What happened. A first return takes place in the 6th century BC, when the Persian king Cyrus lets the exiles go home from Babylon. But Isaiah speaks of a "second time", and Ezekiel of "one nation" reunited. Already fulfilled, under way, or still to come? Readings differ: it is up to you to judge.

What is still debated. for some, these texts speak of the return from Babylon, already fulfilled; for other Christians, of a spiritual gathering of believers from all nations. Seeing their fulfillment in today's immigration to Israel remains a reading.

The text (World English Bible)

“‘“For I will take you from among the nations and gather you out of all the countries, and will bring you into your own land.

Ezek 36:24

Say to them, ‘The Lord GOD says: “Behold, I will take the children of Israel from among the nations where they have gone, and will gather them on every side, and bring them into their own land. I will make them one nation in the land, on the mountains of Israel. One king will be king to them all. They will no longer be two nations. They won’t be divided into two kingdoms any more at all.

Ezek 37:21-22

It will happen in that day that the Lord will set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant that is left of his people from Assyria, from Egypt, from Pathros, from Cush, from Elam, from Shinar, from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea. He will set up a banner for the nations, and will assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth.

Isa 11:11-12
