In short

The announcement. John, in the book of Revelation, toward the end of the 1st century, sees a huge crowd, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before God's throne, and learns that it “came out of the great tribulation”.

What happened. This has not happened yet. In the account, this crowd comes out of the great distress, which assumes that the distress is already under way or already past at that point.

What is still debated. the text does not say that the great distress begins after the sixth seal; it only says that the crowd comes out of it.
