Step still to come (one reading among others)
Gog and the Beast — distinct roles, period not established
? Not yet happened, no date
See the full entry: sources, objections, answersIn short
The announcement. The prophet Ezekiel announces Gog's military attack against Israel, while John, in the book of Revelation, toward the end of the 1st century, and the apostle Paul, in his second letter to the Thessalonians, describe another figure who insults God and passes himself off as God.
What happened. This has not happened yet. No text says whether Gog and the Beast act in the same period: placing them together is a reconstruction.
What is still debated. Revelation takes up the names “Gog and Magog” after the thousand years, in another scene, and the link between that passage and Ezekiel's is not settled.
Main objection (in French for now)
Aucun verset ne dit que Gog et la Bête sont contemporains : la co-période est une reconstruction, pas une donnée.
The text (World English Bible)
The LORD’s word came to me, saying, “Son of man, set your face toward Gog, of the land of Magog, the prince of Rosh, Meshech, and Tubal, and prophesy against him, and say, ‘The Lord GOD says: “Behold, I am against you, Gog, prince of Rosh, Meshech, and Tubal. I will turn you around, and put hooks into your jaws, and I will bring you out, with all your army, horses and horsemen, all of them clothed in full armor, a great company with buckler and shield, all of them handling swords; Persia, Cush, and Put with them, all of them with shield and helmet; Gomer, and all his hordes; the house of Togarmah in the uttermost parts of the north, and all his hordes—even many peoples with you.
